Inspraak FSW

Grants

When you hold one or more Participation functions, you will receive the following amounts as compensation for your work within student participation. Officially, this compensation is called a board grant, which is paid from the profiling fund. All positions are by default appointed for one academic year, with monthly payments from September through August. If you are appointed for an alternative period, the Participation Coordinators will inform you about the amount and the period for which you will be paid.

At the start of your appointment, you will receive an online grant form. You fill this in, after which it will be processed by the Participation Coordinators. Would you like to know more about this compensation? Check the university website or email the Participation Coordinators at studenteninspraak.fsw@uu.nl.

***** The student assessor of the Faculty Board holds a special position. The role and responsibilities of the assessor as a member of the Faculty Board are of such scope and weight that, in 2021, the Executive Board of Utrecht University decided that these tasks should be compensated by the faculties through an appointment as a student assistant. According to the Faculty Regulations, the student assessor is part of the governance of the faculty, not of student participation. The assessor is involved in all decisions of the Faculty Board and therefore carries a special responsibility and a complex role.

****** At the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Participation students used to be responsible for recruiting and selecting their successors, coordinating tasks, and organising collaboration among themselves. They also managed the overall course of Participation throughout the year. This proved to be too great a burden, which limited their ability to focus on their regular Participation tasks. Since this coordinating role was not part of the standard Participation tasks and placed an additional workload on the students, it was eventually decided to assign this responsibility to two student assistants, the so-called Participation Coordinators (MeCos). The Participation Coordinators manage the coordination and support of Participation within the faculty and are appointed as student assistants at the Department of Education and Student Affairs (OSZ). The MeCos are therefore not Participation students themselves, but are employed by the faculty to coordinate student participation.
