Job openings
Student member of the Educational Committee (EC)
The Educational Committee (EC) is a faculty-wide body where students and teachers from all academic and research master’s programmes come together. Each study programme is represented by one PAC member, meaning that in total six to seven students join the EC. The EC provides a platform to discuss issues and policies that affect education across the faculty. This includes advising on faculty-wide regulations and developments, communicating about programme-specific challenges, and exploring what could be improved. The EC also advises the Board of Studies Graduate School, which focuses on the organization of education rather than its content and quality.
What will you do?
As a member of the EC, you will participate in meetings that go beyond the level of your own programme. Together with other students and teachers, you will discuss policies that influence all programmes in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. You will also represent the perspective of your own study programme in these broader conversations, bringing forward issues that are relevant for your peers. In addition to programme-related matters, the EC also addresses current topics that affect the faculty as a whole, such as the role of artificial intelligence in education or the impact of budget cuts. The role requires around two extra hours per week, with a flexible schedule.
It is important to note that this role is an addition to the PAC membership. To apply for the EC, you must also apply for and hold a position in the PAC. For research master’s programmes, it is customary that the second-year PAC member attends the EC meetings.
What do we expect from you?
We are looking for a student who already fulfills the qualities of a PAC member and is eager to take an extra step. You should not only have a strong interest in the quality of your own programme, but also in the organization and structure of the faculty as a whole. Representing your programme requires the ability to critically assess how faculty-wide policies impact your fellow students, while also bringing in a constructive perspective on potential improvements.
What do we offer?
Being a member of the EC provides the opportunity to actively contribute to shaping the organization and policy of education at faculty level. You will be part of discussions that matter to all master’s students, while at the same time representing the experiences and concerns of your own programme. This experience allows you to gain valuable insight into the broader decision-making processes within the faculty and to connect with a wide range of teachers, staff members, and students. For your contribution, you will receive an additional monthly compensation of €60.13, on top of your PAC compensation.
How to apply
Are you interested in joining the EC in addition to your PAC role? Please send your CV and motivation letter to studenteninspraak.fsw@uu.nl. After receiving your application, we will contact you to schedule a short meeting. During this conversation, we can get to know you better, answer your questions, and determine together whether this role is the right fit for you.
